This year tournament was badly affected by the unexpected strike in the Czech Railways. A number of participants had to cancel their participation at the very last moment. Still there was a number of brave players, particularly the stronger ones, who overcame the obstacles and came to Prague. Leszek Soldan and Jakub Baran will perhaps never forget their night hitch-hike ride accross the Czech country. The total number of 105 participants including the top section of sixteen 4-Dans and stronger was better then the original nightmare of the organizers.

The fights were very tough and yielded to several suprizing results. Vladimir Danek lost against handicaped Leszek Soldan and against Christian Nurschinger, and left the tournament after the third round. Zoran Mutabzija won the first two games but then lost the next two rounds and also did not finish the tournament. Dmitrii Yatsenko showed the best form and won without a single loss. Alexei Lazarev and Leszek Soldan shared the second place with four wins, and Radek Nechanický and David Holecek shared the fourth place. (report by Jiri Rakosnik)
