“The Korean Ambassador opened the tournament with a fascinating speech. Shortly thereafter the boards and stones were put on the tables and didn't get much rest for the next fourteen days. Over hundred participants, among them many Japanese and Korean, took part in the following tournaments: the European Championship, the Master Tournament, three zone tournaments and a main tournament."
By winning this tournament Wichard von Alvensleben (Gottingen) Became European Go Champion for the fourth time.
Each player was allotted three hours and in byoyomi an additional minute for each move, White received 5 komi.
